ELEMENT:
Architectural Sails Shading Fabric
AIM:
The sail cloth to the alfresco dining deck gives shade and privacy without
restricting the air flow to the deck. The sails allow the air to flow
up and around them so that hot air is not trapped in the area.
STRATEGY:
Low Maintenance Materials
The shade fabric is Gale commercial 90 knitted shade fabric manufactured
from high density polyethelene monofilament and tape yarn. The UVA blockout
from this material is approximately 90%
The catenary cables are made from 3mm grade 304 stainless steel for durability.
The corner support and fittings are 5.5 mm sold stainless steel triangles
with the cables swaged to the corners.
The seams are double stitched with grade V138 UV stabilised polyester
thread.
The sail is fixed to the existing building at the corners with stainless
steel bolts and stainless steel lifting eyes. The tensioning is carried
out using pre stretched polyester yacht rope which is winced to the desired
position and tied off.
