ELEMENT: Permaculture Garden, Indigenous Species of Vegetation AIM: Local native plant species were chosen for the permaculture garden as they do not require as much water to survive as most non indigenous vegetation. Also native plants attract fauna and provide more habitat for these animals. The design of the garden links balconies and has rock paths that meander through a permaculture garden that provides fresh herbs and fruit. The free form rock paving and pebbles used in the landscaping have a low environmental impact and are functional, durable, low maintenance and have low embodied energy. These materials are readily available, recyclable and cost effective. Click here for Technical Detail. |
