Internal Doors

ELEMENT:

Finlaysons Timber and Hardware. Envirowood hollow core timber doors and frames
Raven Products door seals

AIM:

The ease of maintenance for the internal doors was a large factor when selecting the door type. This reduces ongoing costs and labour associated with maintaining the doors throughout the life of the building.

The doors and frames are made from forest plantation hoop pine. Having materials that are supplied from sustainable plantations reduces the demand for rainforest timbers that take many years (if ever) to regenerate.

Windows and Louvres

ELEMENT:

James Hardie 'Breezway' Louvres with timber blades
Sustaibable forest plantation hoop pine frame

AIM:

The purpose of providing natural ventilation through windows is to give fresh air to the occupants, cool the building and cool the occupants. Louvred windows have a large surface area opening for airflow into the house. Adjusting the angles of the louvred blades can control the direction and amount of airflow across a room.

The portal frame structure allows the building to have openings inside without needing extra structural support to the walls. The strategic positions of internal and external facing windows allows airflow across rooms, inside the house.

The timber blades to the windows inside can give privacy to the room even when they are open if angled correctly.
