6 000L Aerobic Wastewater Treatment System (AWTS) with a recirculating sand filter

AIM:

Greywater is the water collected from the showers and baths, handbasins and the laundry. Once the greywater is collected it is treated in an aerobic greywater treatment system, which incorproates a recirculating sand filter.

This treated greywater could be used to irrigate the gardens, decreasing the need to use external water supplies. However, current legislation prevents garden irrigation with greywater in an area with existing sewers, so currently the water is pumped directly into the normal sewers.
